How it all started...

I was admitted into the hospital on New Years Eve, what a great way to bring in the new year... I ruptured my membranes and had no clue, I was rushed to the hospital where they started an iv, gave me a shot in my butt (ouch) to help mature the baby's lungs. I spent 11 days there when I finally decided I needed to be home with my family. I was home for 7 days, going to have daily ultrasounds done to check on the baby, they told me my fluids where dangerously low and should go back to the hospital, I was extremely upset and worried about what was happening to me and the baby. I went back in the hospital basically so they could monitor us more closely. 7 days after going back into the hospital they told me I was being induced. Friday January 25th was a very long day, I was awake at 5 o'clock a.m., the nurse's had no clue what was going on with the induction, finally at 8 a.m. they brought me down to labor and delivery, they start the iv at 1 p.m. after I sat waiting for answers about what was taking so long. Well needless to say I started having contractions and they hurt, they continued through til the nextday at 6 a.m. when my husband and I decided I needed to take a break, I was not dialating, and was just in pain, they turned off the iv... finally some rest. At 2 p.m. we started back up, OH MY GOD the pains were so bad, for hours this went on dialating 2 then 4 centimeters, finally at 9 p.m. the doctor checked my cervix and I was 6 centimeters, I knew I was close, they took me to a room where the baby would be closely monitored because he was 5 weeks premature and could have lung problems, OH NO time to push, I was told to wait, then no no it is ok Heidi you can push on the next contraction, the next contraction I pushed with everything I had in me, "We can see the head, one more push Heidi" ok this one took everything out of me I pushed and he was right there looking at me and my husband this beautiful baby boy, Anthony Owen was born January 26th at 10:08pm, he weighed 4 lbs. 14 ounces. He is beautiful.
